For all who have brought so much cheer and joy to our lives in year 2008, a big THANK YOU to you!!!
Print your lanyards in the nick of time!

Leaving it to the last minute... express printed lanyards
When requests for "miracles" kept on flooding in, i.e. to have customised lanyards in impossible time frames, we decided to tackle these tough deadlines head on! Finally after much experimenting and trials, we finally found a way to produce good quality printed lanyards fast.
Thank YOU for placing trust in us to deliver in such tight deadlines and not compromising in quality.
Thank YOU for pushing us to improve upon our service!
Having said that, please try NOT to leave lanyards printing to the last minute as our Express Lanyard Printing Service has its limitations, such as fixed strap colours, 1 sided printing and simpler logos.
More importantly, the tighter the deadlines, the faster our hearts beat!
The sun is out and WE LOVE HOXTON!

- Colourful people... and their colourful clothes
- Plenty of recycling collection points
- Waiting for the emergence of Hoxton Fin 2

What is a Lanyard?
28th July 2008
"Lanyard" is derived from the French word lanière in the 14th century, meaning "strap".
When we first started Lanyard Factory, everyone we met was saying, "What factory again?"
For the uninitiated, a lanyard is indeed the string you hang around the neck at conferences, in offices, at hospitals, in schools, at festivals and even parties. However, as with most essentials in life, the lanyard has often gone unnoticed.
The most common material used to produce lanyards is polyester. Nylon can also be used to manufacture lanyards, and it produces a smoother and shinier finish. However, as nylon is more expensive than polyester, the nylon lanyards are less popular. Also, if not treated well, a nylon lanyard can be too stiff and uncomfortable.
The customised lanyard has huge potential - it can advertise your business and promote your products and services according to your corporate ethos. For example, if you want something professional looking, we will recommend something fuss free - a double layered printed lanyard with your corporate logo. If you are looking to host a cabaret-themed party, we have lanyards that resemble feather boas even! So, a lanyard is MORE than a simple neck strap that you attach your ID card, keys and phone to.
We have great fun brainstorming what suits your needs best. So call us when you want something special!
Dress up Mondays
15th July 2008
Staying in touch with our corporate roots.
The Lanyard Factory is proud to be in Hoxton – flip flops, outrageous t-shirts, the very occasional picnic lunch at WIFI-ed Hoxton Square, the pleasure of witnessing the random artist furiously sketching away in one of our local cafes – in short, we believe through some sort of diffusion, us being in Hoxton makes US trendy/creative.
However, once in a while, we experience what we termed “the corporate pang”. We miss the tall buildings, the brisk walking (people at Liverpool Street tube generally walk faster than those at Old Street tube for example), the power suits and the heels (both wearing and hearing them).
Hence the birth of “Dress Up Mondays”. The idea is simple – come Monday, we will dig out our proper work clothes and sun them by finally wearing them! Heels/proper leather shoes put a spring in our step as we skip to pick up the phone. So do call us on our free phone, especially on Monday! We look good, we feel good and we make good lanyards!
The first Dress Up Monday was a roaring success! We looked uber smart that day and there was not an inch of the usual Monday blues. Even better, we were all decked out in black and white without prior discussion. Nice.
From Bottle to Lanyard – The Recycled Lanyard
12th June 2008
Going Green seems to be all the buzz now and although we try not to follow fads blindly, we unashamedly announce that Lanyard Factory is going green too!
Why?
Just check out the facts from Waste Online below:
• In UK alone, 3 million tonnes of plastic waste is being generated every year. Out of that, an equivalent of 25.2 BILLION 2-litres bottles are being thrown away by folks like us!
• When plastic is landfilled, it becomes a litter menace as plastic takes hundreds of years to disintegrate. This is especially pertinent now that we use and produce 20 times more plastic than we did 50 years ago.
• Plastic is hazardous to produce requiring oil (it is estimated that 4% of the world’s annual oil production is used as raw material for plastics production and an additional 3-4% used during manufacture).
How?
What we do is tiny, but we believe that if everyone does a little, the world will become a much better place. So, following the 3 cardinal principles of Reduce, Reuse and Recycle, Lanyard Factory commits to the following:
• Manufacturing, with pride and care, recycled lanyards from recycled PET (polyethylene terephtalate or in our simplified term - plastic drinking bottles) that feel and look better than lanyards made from virgin polyester. Our recycled lanyards are recyclable too (the strap)! We do not believe in making biodegradable lanyards from corn or other edible materials as we think that food should remain where it should remain – in people’s tummies. Plus, there is enough waste for us to recycle.
• Creating lanyards that are good looking enough that your client keeps and reuses it even after the event it was created for
• Bringing mummy tote bags/backpacks so that we can say ‘no’ to plastic bags while going to the grocers
• Bringing mugs for morning coffees from local cafes instead of using take away cups
• Encouraging email exchanges instead of unnecessary paper trails
• Using both sides of papers
• Storing plastic bags (if we ever get them) and reuse them
• Drinking Ribena (first in industry to use 100% recycled bottles which are recyclable as well)
• Bringing the Ribena bottles (and other items) to our local recycling site after removing the bottle caps (to allow for easier sorting)
• Buying recycled paper products, to the best of our ability
